Workster is partnering with a fast-growing international technology company within the sports betting and iGaming industry to recruit an experienced Head of Quantitative Trading for their team in Sofia, Bulgaria.
This senior leadership role will take ownership of the company’s quantitative trading strategy, pricing models, risk frameworks, and trading performance. You will lead a team of quantitative analysts and traders, combining advanced statistical modelling, sports data, and technology to optimise pricing, manage exposure, and continuously improve automated and data-driven trading capabilities.
Your Role
- Define and lead the overall quantitative trading strategy across the sportsbook
- Lead, develop, and mentor teams of Quantitative Analysts, Traders, and Data specialists
- Develop and continuously improve pricing, probability, forecasting, and risk models
- Drive the development of automated and algorithmic approaches to sportsbook trading and pricing
- Analyse large volumes of sports, market, customer, and historical betting data
- Ensure betting markets are priced accurately and efficiently across different sports and competitions
- Establish effective frameworks for risk management, exposure management, and trading limits
- Monitor trading performance and identify opportunities to improve margin, pricing accuracy, and operational efficiency
- Develop quantitative methodologies to identify market inefficiencies and improve decision-making
- Work closely with Data Science and Engineering teams to productionise quantitative models
- Evaluate third-party data feeds, pricing sources, and trading technologies
- Define and monitor key trading KPIs and performance metrics
- Develop models and tools to support real-time trading decisions during live sporting events
- Introduce greater levels of automation, machine learning, and AI into trading operations
- Conduct backtesting, model validation, and performance analysis to ensure quantitative strategies remain robust
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data, Risk, and Commercial teams on sportsbook development
- Present trading performance, risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
- Stay ahead of developments in sports modelling, quantitative research, betting markets, and trading technology
Your Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in quantitative trading, sportsbook trading, quantitative research, or a closely related analytical field
- Significant experience in a senior leadership or quantitative trading management position
- Strong understanding of sports betting markets, odds, probabilities, pricing, margins, and risk management
- Advanced knowledge of statistics, probability theory, mathematical modelling, and quantitative analysis
- Strong programming capabilities in Python, R, or similar quantitative languages
- Experience working with large datasets and analytical technologies such as SQL
- Proven experience developing predictive, pricing, forecasting, or risk models
- Experience with automated or algorithmic trading systems is highly advantageous
- Knowledge of machine learning and AI techniques applied to forecasting, pricing, or trading is an advantage
- Strong understanding of model validation, backtesting, and performance measurement
- Experience managing and developing high-performing quantitative and trading teams
- Strong commercial understanding and ability to connect quantitative performance with business outcomes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Economics, Engineering, or another highly quantitative discipline
- Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline is advantageous
- Excellent command of English
- Previous experience within sports betting is highly advantageous
